EXPERIENCE
Ms. Ellie Chiu is a Consultant of the Firm. She had been a managing partner of the Firm for over 15 years prior to becoming a Consultant. She has handled numerous claims spanning a large spectrum of the insurance field including matters relating to fire insurance, professional liability insurance, property insurance, contractors' all risks insurance, theft insurance, public liability insurance, personal accident insurance, life insurance, employees' compensation insurance and motor vehicle insurance, etc.
Ms. Chiu is frequently consulted by insurers and insured parties on complicated insurance issues, including mergers of insurers, underwriting of new policy terms and conditions, applications for authorization from the Insurance Authority, registration and authorization of insurance intermediaries, disputes on policy terms and conditions by way of litigation and arbitration, liquidation of insurance company as well as questions arising from the various funding agreements in relation to the Motor Insurers' Bureau of Hong Kong. As the Firm serves on the official legal panels for numerous government departments and public authorities, Ms. Chiu leads a specialized and dedicated team that navigates complex claims directed at these entities and provides professional advice on practice and law reform.
Ms. Chiu also has solid experience in probate matters including Will drafting, application for various types of grants involving deceased persons of both local and foreign domicile, resealing of foreign grants, advising on and conducting litigation over contentious probate matters and advising on the restructuring of assets and administration of estate.
Dedicated to fostering professional growth, Ms. Chiu has organized various seminars and conducted workshops covering a variety of topics from time to time to keep staff members and clients up-to-date on legal reforms and the judicial trend.
